Known as “honeycomb toffee,” dalgona is a traditional Korean sugar candy.
Dalgona has a storied history in South Korea, where it first emerged as a street food in the 1970s. Most South Korean millennials who grew up during the 1980s to early 2000s have fond memories from childhood waiting in anticipation as street vendors hand-crafted each caramelised sugar confection using a variety of molds and pictures.
Dalgona is already well known across the world through the “dalgona coffee challenge” that was viral on various social medias earlier this year. We can proudly say that we were the first to bring the traditional and rather old-fashioned snack to the trendy table.
